Horizons No. 68 is an original semi-abstract oil painting on canvas. It is an almost square mid/large size landscape borderline minimalist of vibrant greens, pinks and warm colors contrasted with dark tones freshly layered in an ‘alla prima’ style, meaning painted and finished while the painting is wet.

Horizons is a series which explores imagined, fantastical scenes. In this body of works, I challenge reality, using art as a means of escape from everyday life. Horizons is one of my longest-running series to date, and it continues to evolve with each new piece.
Canvas is stretched on wooden strips and is ready for framing or to be displayed as is. This painting is signed ‘cherres’ in the front.

Original paintings: I carefully hand stretch my own unprimed canvases to ensure they will not buckle or wrinkle in the frame. I also choose a higher grade canvas than the pre-stretched store bought ones. I then prime or gesso and lightly sand them; this is a process I repeat three times.
